The joy of sharing books in a welcoming community

At Page Turners we believe that whilst reading is a personal experience, sharing a book can be an enriching, community-building activity. Hearing other people’s opinions and reactions to a book help us understand it more fully. The emotions you experience when you read, are amplified when you discuss them with others. The joy spreads.

We all have particular authors we love and particular genres that appeal to us. But even the books we don’t like can lead to great discussions – sometimes the best discussions.

Reading is a great way to keep your mind active and engaged, and is a great stress reliever.

If we allow ourselves to be transported elsewhere while reading, by trusting the author, by trusting ourselves as readers, we open up ourselves to different experiences, perspectives and feelings. A good book can change you and a great book stays with you for life.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Page Turners book club work?

Each month, we select a new book for our members to read. We meet either in-person or online for an informal and lively discussion where members can discuss their views in an open and welcome environment.

Do I need to be an active participant to join?

You can engage with Page Turners however you choose! If you haven’t had time to finish the book, or didn’t get on with it, but want to come along anyway, everyone is welcome. If you have finished the book, but just want to listen to the views of others, we’re really happy to welcome you too!

How are the books selected?

Selections are made with each group in mind. A mix of genres, styles, settings and time periods is always aimed for. Members can always make suggestions and at the end of each discussion each book is rated so we get a good idea of which books people enjoy the most.

Is there a membership fee?

Please contact us to discuss the applicable membership fees.
